Passion (Palm) Sunday

On Sunday 5th April - Palm Sunday - we have the Blessing and distribution of palm crosses at all Masses

Palm Sunday, the final Sunday before Easter Sunday, marks the beginning of Holy Week.  As with all Christian churches we distribute palms on Palm Sunday to commemorate Christ's triumphal entrance into Jerusalem, when palm branches were placed in His path, before His arrest and Crucifixion on Good Friday.

Maundy Thursday

7.30pm - Mass of the Lord's Supper, Washing of feet (Mandatum), Procession to the Altar of Repose and the Watch

Maundy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper when Jesus shared the Passover meal with his disciples on the night before he was crucified. In contrast to joyful Easter celebrations when we celebrate the Resurrection of Christ, Maundy Thursday services are typically more solemn occasions, marked by the shadow of Jesus' betrayal.

Holy Saturday

Holy Saturday - 7.30pm - Easter Vigil and First Mass of Easter

There is deep symbolism upon which we can reflect on Holy Saturday. The Lighting of the new fire - the Paschal Candle - "Christ the Light" and the proclamation that Christ has Risen indeed. Hallelujah and opened for us the Gates of Heaven.
