Confirmation
Confirmation is the completion of Christian initiation which begins with Holy Baptism. When we are confirmed we have the opportunity to confirm those promises which we made at our Holy Baptism (or which were made on our behalf) and God confirms our membership of his Church by sending his Holy Spirit into our hearts and sealing us with its presence.
Confirmation is normally offered to children in Year 5 after a course of preparation which takes place at our parish school. If your child does not attend St Saviour’s School then separate arrangements can be made. Please speak with Fr Andrew or the Parish Office.
Confirmation is offered to adults at any time in their adult life following a course of preparation, either as a group session shared with other adults; or privately with one of the parish priests.
The next service of Confirmation will be at St Mary-on-Paddington Green at 11.00am on Sunday 10th September, 2023 – Bishop David Urquhart will preside.

First Communion
First communion is normally offered to children in Year 3 after a course of preparation which takes place at our parish school. If your child does not attend St Saviour’s School then separate arrangements can be made. Please speak with Fr Andrew or the Parish Office.
The next service for First Communion will be held at the Feast of Corpus Christi at St Saviour’s Church in 2024. Details to follow.
During the Confirmation Service
The Bishop will encourage those to be confirmed and ask them to renew the vows which were made when they were baptized
He will pray for them, that they will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit in their lives
He will lay his hands on the head of each person with the words “Confirm, O Lord, your servant, with your Holy Spirit”
He will anoint each person with the sacred Oil of Chrism with the words: “Be sealed with the Holy Spirit”
He will hand a candle to each person to remind them of the continuing light of Christ in their lives.
