Sunday School Support to Charities & Community

Why so we give to Charity?

  • GIVING TO CHARITY MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD… It is good to know that you are helping others, and making positive changes in the world. It is hugely empowering and makes you feel happier and more fulfilled.

  • GIVING TO CHARITY STRENGTHENS OUR PERSONAL VALUES… We all have the power to improve the lives of others. It is a Christian duty, to use what we have to help others.

  • GIVING TO CHARITYINTRODUCES CHILDREN TO THE IMPORTANCE OF GENEROSITY… and an appreciation that not everyone is as blessed as they are. We should give thanks for the bountiful harvest we have in each of our lives, and take time to remember those who are less fortunate, and need our support.

As a Parish we support various Charities throughout the year.

But in addition, the children in Sunday school also support several outreach programs throughout the year.

  • At Harvest Festival – Children in Sunday school assemble wash-bags with personal toiletries for distribution at The Passage Homeless Shelter, as well as assist with the collection of food for the local food bank.
  • At Christmas – We collect and deliver toys and clothes to a local Women’s and children’s Shelter, and to Friends of St Mary’s Hospital; as well as make Christmas cards for parish members.
  • At Lent – Sunday school assist with the collection of monetary donations for The Passage Homeless Shelter, and make Easter Cards for the parish members.
  • Christian Aid Week – The children at Sunday school have participated in the annual outreach program. In the past they have raised money to buy worms for a farming community in Bangladesh, a cow for a village in Africa and maternity assistance in Sierra Leone.
